Japan's Shochu is a clear spirit which is distilled from various ingredients that contain natural starches such as potato, rice, wheat and barley. Unlike other spirits, Shochu contains Koji, a unique mold used to aid in the fermentation process.
In Japan, Shochu has replaced Sake as the beverage of
choice and is quickly gaining popularity around the
world. This is largely due to its smooth taste and the
many health benefits it yields. Most notably, Shochu
is low in calories and is rich with Kinase enzymes that
help clean the blood- stream and reduces the risk of
heart attacks and strokes.
